What is hopefully the last cold week in April

Last Friday, we spent another night on board.  We also took her for a little spin up and down the bayou where she is slipped, since the First Mate had yet to be onboard while she was underway.  He liked it.  He got to drive.

Back at the dock, Jessica and Steven and Stella (our people neighbors, and their foster bulldog) and Ben (who's nine) came onboard to hang out for a while.  Much laughing and drinking ensued and it was a good time.  We slept great that night.
Buzzy humans settling in for the night.

We woke up to tornado watches on Saturday and decided to go onshore so we could avoid a "wet ass," as the captain called it.  Went to Waffle House and watched the skies swirl right over where she is docked.  She was fine, though it was hard to get to her because of downed trees and flooding in the streets nearby.

We finally bought some of the things we have been needing for her.  We bought some dock fenders, the kind you put on the pilings at your dock, since our fenders are fully engaged but only work when she is lined up JUST SO.  So we bought the piling ones and also beer.  Typical us.

There were also four little companion lights on the fly bridge (total aftermarket deals) and two were burnt out.  At six dollars each, it seemed most logical to replace all four with new LED ones from Walmart, so we did that.

We still need - and this is a priority - to get shower curtains onboard.  I am about ready to have a shower while onboard.  And we need to replace the davit winch and we need to clean a lot and we need to rip out ceiling board under the front window where there is a leak.  But really... she's coming along good.

We went back onboard, and ended up staying again, on Sunday night.  My brother and his wife and kids came for a drink and another little cruise, and then FM and Captain and I dog piled on the couch to watch tv in the salon.  We ate take out at the table in the galley for the first time and it was as nice as it could be. I KNOW I KNOW, you don't buy a boat to sit inside and watch tv, but it was super comfortable and nice.

Comfortable enough that I stretched out there, briefly, on Monday evening as well.  After work wind-down.  Yes please.

Last night (Tuesday) we also went over for a little bit after supper.  We decided to turn on the nav lights and take a gander at what she looks like in the dark.  Result:  She looks amazing.

She looks so pretty.

This coming weekend we HAVE to do some work on board.  She needs a good scrubbing and we still haven't inventoried all of the gear (and there is tons of it) that is in the hulls.  We saw some isinglass.  It could be curtains to close in either the fly bridge or the aft deck or both.  That would be a game changer in inclement weather, since there is no below-deck wheelhouse.

And we don't have a gig until Sunday, so there should be plenty of time to be onboard this weekend.  If we are really lucky, it will be (finally) warm and we can really enjoy ourselves!

It's fine because they don't call it "catching" so no I didn't catch anything and nobody cares, actually.

Batteries are heavy, fyi.
